Job Location: Remote

The VMware Engineer is responsible for the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of the VMware virtualization platform, including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, and other related products. The engineer will collaborate closely with another team to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the virtualization environment, troubleshoot issues, and provide Customer support as needed. 

Key Responsibilities:

– Design, implement, and maintain VMware vSphere infrastructure.

– Plan and execute VMware vCenter and Esxi upgrades and migrations.

– Hands on experience in vCenter esxi 7.x and 8.x versions.

– Troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues and working with external customers to effectively resolve them.

– Experience in troubleshooting Dell hardware issues.

– Experience in migrating Virtual machines and troubleshooting vMotion, SvMotion issues.

– Experience in creating clusters and configuring it end to end

–  Experience in Install and configuring esxi 7.x, 8.x

– Troubleshooting vCenter, esxi and Virtual machines, vSAN, iSCSI, Networking  issues

– Analyzing logs and providing mitigations to the issues.

– Perform capacity planning for VMware vSphere infrastructure.

– Monitor performance of VMware vSphere infrastructure and troubleshoot day to day issues.

– Create and document the  Root cause analysis for Customers.

– Proactively identify and perform mitigation steps to fix the Customer issues.

– Respond to server down alerts in a timely manner and restore functionality.

– Participate in the installation and maintenance of systems software, utilities, and hardware platforms.

– Train other staff on using and administering VMware vSphere. 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

– Minimum of four years’ experience working with VMware vSphere in a production environment.

– Experience configuring and managing VMware vCenter Server.

– Experience with VMware ESXi server administration.

– Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS).

– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

– Strong fundamental knowledge of all components of VMware.

– Experience with VMware vSAN and NSX-T is beneficial

– Knowledge of Azure Cloud and Dell server iDRAC is a plus.

– L2/L3 Networking, DHCP/DNS/AD knowledge is beneficial. 

Preferred Qualifications:

– Knowledge about VMware componenets

– Good knowledge of Dell PowerEdge Server Environment iDRAC.

– Moderate knowledge of Linux.

– Experience in scripting using Python, PowerShell, etc. Knowledge in C#, Java, or any object-oriented languages is a plus.

– Microsoft Azure knowledge is a strong plus.
